Received January 28, 5 p.m. The Daily Chronicle's Athens correspondent states that after 50 days' blockade Greek wheat is exhausted, and they now have only ryebread. Small rations are served in the restaurants. ADMINISTRATION OF GREEK AFFAIRS • , ATHENS, January 26. Received January 28, 6.5 p.m. The Athens Government has accepted a list of Allied officers who will be stationed at the twelve principal towns, and who will exercise military control. ,The Allies have authorised the use of land sufficient for coal supplies for the railways and for transporting troops. THE SITUATION IN GREECE POPULATION GREATLY RELIEVED LONDON, January 27. Received January 28, 5.5 p.m. The morning Post’s correspondent at. Athens states that the population is greatly relieved owing to the Government’s acceptance of the ultimatum. All outside the officers' club and the politicial intriguers recognised that it is useless to engage in a struggle with the Entente. Everybody is sick of the terrorism and the stagnation in business, and visions of a famine caused much uneasiness in Athens and concerning the reservists who employed lurid language to the very last. The acceptance of the demands enraged the Gounarist coteries, because it upsets their party plans and they now accuse the King of treason and collusion and predict M. Venizelos’ early return to Athens, RESERVISTS' LEAGUE DISSOLVES ATHENS, January 26. Received January 28, 5.5 p.m. Following a conference with General Elliott the Governor approved of the decree dissolving the Reservists’ League.
