SUCCESSFUL BRITISH RAIDS. ENEMY ATTEMPTS FRUSTRATED. (Australian & N.Z. Csble Assn & Reuter) LONDON, January 96. Received January 96. 11.90 p.m. Sir Douglas Haig reports ; We launched a successful raid at noon in the neighbourhood of Hulluoh. Many ol the enemy were killed and some were taken prisoners. We drove off two raiding parties last night eastward of Fauquissart. A third party reached the trenches eastward of Ypres, but were immediately driven out, and our position was re-established. There has been much aerial activity. A fax.se idea corrected. All DIES ADVANCE IN SPRING. CAMPAIGN TO THE BITTER END. BUT WE ABE GOING TO WIN. NEW YORK, January 25. Received January 96, 11.20 p.m. The New York Times London correspondent interviewed General Maurice, who said that he wanted to correct a seeming impression in America that the French and British had reached their limit of ability in the West and were unable to push on. Such an idea was entirely false. The whole British army, from the highest command downward, was positive in the conviction that the Allies would ad vane.in the spring until the German west front was utterly routed. The correspondent : That means that we may expect a decisive victory on the west front ? General Maurice : There is not the slightest doubt regarding that in the minds of the commanders. We believe that we have reached the point of superiority over the foe and are able to drive back and vanquish the Germans. It will be a campaign to the bitter end, but we are going to win.
