RECRUITING
CHATHAM ISLAND RECRUITS. I'IKTV GOOD MEN. (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, July IS. Major Bernan, who had been sent by the Government to the Chatham Islands to inspect likely recruits, returned today. He said that about 50 men had come forward, all of good physique. Major Bernan leaves to-night for Wellington, and will report the result of his mission to the Government.
