NATIONAL RESERVE

The annual meeting of B Company of the National Reserve was held on Friday night, when a large number of members attended. The report for the past twelve months referred to the good work being done by the corps, as it has assisted in training over thirty of its members who had volunteered for active service, and others were likely to follow. The Reserve drills are held regularly every Friday night, and it is to be regretted that more of its members (there are. about 200 in B Company’s roll) do not attend parade, as it is only by having good musters that the best results can be obtained. Jt was pointed out at the meeting that more advanced work could he practised, and the drills increased in interest for both officers and men, if sufficient would attend to make company manoeuvres passible. Those present agreed to see non-attenders with a view to increasing the weekly muster. Votes of thanks were, passed to Major Crowthcr and his staff for the many courtesies received at the hands of the local Defence authorities, for the occasional use of rifles, and accommodation in the new Drill Hall. Reference was also made to the valuable services rendered during the year by Captain Flaus, who has taken so much interest in his command.
