The High Commissioner cables under date London, July ll;_The wool sales have commenced. There was a, large attendance of buyers. Home buyers, prohibited from purchasing English wool, competing freely. The market is strong for all kinds of merino which is in small supply. Prices have improved for all kinds of merino by 3d per lb; fine crossbred of fill grades are (Ad higher. Prices for medium and coarse crossbreds have fallen Vid lower than closing rates of last sales. The total net quantity of Now Zealand wool available Is 59,350 bales. Note—The estimated values given by the High Commissioner in his cablegram on the last wool sales are: Superior merino, 1/9 to I/Il; medium merino, 1, 3 to I AS ; Inferior merino, 1/1 to I /1; fine crossbreds, all grades, 1/10 to 3 -; medium crossbreds, dll grades, 1/3 to 1/S; coarse crossbreds, all grades, 13 to 1/6. The Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Go., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from lliolr ' London house under date 13th inst.;Merino market active compared with July 8. 3 to 7Vi per cent., higher crossbred, good demand fot tine par 3 per cent, higher, coarse par 3 per cent, lower.
