SOUTHLAND INDUSTRIAL EXHIBITION
The meeting of the sub-committee appointed by the Invercargill Branch of the Southland Deague, to enquire into and report upon the question relating to the promotion of the Southland Industrial Exhibition, was held on Tuesday night, when it was decided to wait upon the Directors of the A. and P. Society at an early date with a view' to seeing whether closer co-operation with the latter Society could not be obtained. The. question of the space required for the displaying of exhibits of cheese and also of the method of exhibiting scones, cakes, etc., Avas discussed and suggestions are to he made to the A. and P. Society in connection with this matter. It was also agreed to discuss the practice of permitting outside exhibitors selling fancy work, jewellery, ole,, to take up space at the Winter Show to the exclusion of local exhiihtors. The secretary was authorised to circularise the exhibitors and to convene a meeting for the purpose of discussing the whole question of the promotion of a local exhibition on a larger scale than has previously been attempted in this Province. It was also decided to get. into touch with the. Board of Managers of the Technical College with a view to seeing whether the College will unite with the 1-eaguc in the matter of the Exhibition, and it was suggested that the College Board should he asked whether it would be possible for them to arrange for working exhibits.
