BOARD OF AGRICULTURE
MODEL DAIRY FARM FOR TARANAKI. SHORTAGE OF PHOSPHATES. fPer United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, February 23. At the last'meeting of the Board of Agriculture the proposal of the Stratford A. and P. Association that a model dairy farm, run on commercial lines, should be established in Taranaki, was discussed at length, and it was decided before making any recommendation to obtain fuller details for consideration at a later meeting. In reference to the reported commandeering of the steamer used to convey prosphate rock from -the Pacific Islands to New Zealand, it was decided to point out to the Government that if this steamer was withdrawn from serylce it would mean that practically no phosphatic manures could be imported, as basic slag and superphosphates are increasingly difficult to obtain. The necessity for the retention of Nelson as a grading and inspecting port for the export fruit was brought under the notice of the Minister for Agriculture, who stated that regulations had been published, but he did not think they would be enforced during the coming export season.
