FIRE BRIGADES' CONFERENCE
(Per United Press Association.) WESTPORT, February ill. The Southern District United Fire Brigades' Association opened its meeting at Westport on Saturday. The election of officers resulted as follows; — President, Eieut. Haig (Dunedin Railway); vice-presidents. Captain Lucas (St. Kilda), Deputy Superintendent Coupcr (Oamaru); secretary. Mr Wildey (Mornington;: auditor, Mr E. G. Price (South Dunedin); treasurer, Mr Laurie (Maori Hill). YESTERDAY'S COX FKREX'CE. About 110 delegates were present at the opening sitting of the Fnitod fire Brigades’ Conference to-day. The report stated that .6 36 members had enlisted during the year, of whom 3S had been killed, three were missing, one was a prisoner at Constantinople, and hi were sick and wounded. A substantial collection was made amongst the delegates for the prisoner at Constantinople, who is named Shoebridge, of Fciiding. The Brigade delegates received a hearty welcome from the Mayor and Councillors, and the citizens’, committee, and a number of festivities and motor drives haul been arranged. Tlu president, Mr Campbell (Timarn) iJ'UU’ked the Mayor for the welcome.
