NAPIER WOOL SALES, SATISFACTORY PRICES. (Per United Press Association.) NAPIER, February 18. The third wool sale was opened to-day. Competition was fairly keen, but the quality of the wool was not up to that offered at the last sale, much wool being greasy. This was due to a large proportion being back country wool. Prices were well up to those at the Wellington sale. Fine crossbred, 18-14 d; first Romney lambs, 19Vid; scoured crossbred, up to 23 1 / t d; crossbred, up to IGVad; bellies, 14d; scoured halfbred, 20y 2 d; crossbred hogget, up to 13 %d; crossbred ewe, up to 15 %d. A line of crossbred first lambs wool brought the high price of 19d. Many lots were passed in, the vendors’ reserves not being reached. After the dinner adjournment bidding was very slack, and many lots were passed in. There was a drop in quarter-crossbred fleece, but the prices of other lots were maintained. New Zealand Sheep —Canterbury, medium, 7%d; fives, 7%(l; lambs, Canterbruy heavy, 7%d; other classes, B%d; Southland, Sd; North Island, ordinary, 8d; selected, none offering. Australian Sheep—Not offering. Lambs all classes, Sd. South American Sheep—Light and heavy, 7 lid; ewes, 7 ] /id; Argentine chilled beef, fores, 6%d. Other meats unchanged.
