LAND DOB SOLDIERS. BIG COMMONWEALTH SCHEME. (By Telegraph—Press .'issn. —Copyright) HELnOUKNK, February 20. Ileceived February 20, 11.40 p.m. The Inter-State Conference adopted a scheme for settling returned soldiers on tlie land, based on the war Committee’s proposal, involving from £10,000,000 to £20,000,000. The Federal Government is to provide the necessary funds in the, shape of loans to the various States, and money is to be advanced to applicants at a rate of interest not exceeding 2Vi per rent, the first year, increasing by a half per cent, eaelt subsequent year till the full current rate is reached, with specially liberal repayment conditions. In order to provide subsidiary requirements the public are invited to subscribe ea.slt or kind to a special repatriation fund. .Soldiers who enlisted hut are not sent to the front and will ho given the same piivilcges as returned soldiers. The scheme also proposes the im~vediate establishment of training farms.
