Harding ran away to sea. when a hoy. and after working in a trawler joined the navy. He took part in the hornhardinent. of Sebastopol, and was wounded in the Naval Hrignde landing. He was in the Indian Mutiny, and was again wounded in the thigh. After service in tlie '/Min war lie took part in the bombar Iment of Alexandria, and gained the V.iior throwing overboard a shell which Iropped near the magazine. Heaving the navy in ISS.I, he took part in Admiral .Markham’s Arctic expedition. At Hie beginning of the war lie offered his services, and was engaged in niines\v replug.
Three w, ips under his command were Mown no, atm last summer he was transferred to tie Dardanelles. Two of Harding’s sons were killed at Loos, one is a petty officer in the ynee.i Hlizabet.h, and another a a civilian in the Achillas.
