TOWN COUNCIL INSURANCE
REPORT BY THE TOWN CLERK. At last night's meeting of the Town Council, the Town Clerk (Mr T. YV. Walker) reported as follows: —I beg to submit particulars of fire and accident insurances during the last six years, from which it will be seen that the total premiums exceed the claims paid by £3385 10s lid, equal to an average of £564 5s 2d per annum. In view of these figures I feel that the time has come for this borough to follow the examples of Auckland and Christchurch and other centres by establishing an insurance fund, and recommend the proposition to your favourable consideration.
