BROKEN HILL STRIKE SETTLED. (By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright) MELBOURNE, February 14. Senator Pearce, interviewed, stated that the Broken Hill shift bosses will bo reinstated. The committee, declares the strike off, and pickets have been withdrawn. WHARF LABOURERS’ STRIKE. PROTEST AGAINST’ PRICE OF BREAD. MELBOURNE, February 14. Wharf labourers have refused to load flour until the price of broad is reduced to sixpence. The position is serious, and large stocks arc ready for export to the Imperial authorities. The men propose treating flour and leather similarly unless prices arc reduced. COAL TRADE AFFECTED. SYDNEY, February 14 The shortage of tonnage is seriously affecting the Newcastle coal trade. The mines are working short time, and others are idle. PROTESTS AGAINST GOVERNMENT RETRENCHMENT. M EI.BOURNE, February 14. Workers' meetings protested against wholesale dismissals in connection with the Govi rumen t retrenchment po'icy.
