RECRUITING

THE NEW SCHEME. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, February 12. The new recruiting scheme makes provision for two methods of enlistment. The first class will he known as Category A, consisting of men who register for a definite reinforcement draft, and the second will be known as Category B, which consists of men willing to come up on 14 days' notice as required. The scheme provides that when men are required from Category 13 to make good a deficiency in any particular draft or to meet a sudden demand they will be called up by the Defence Department group officers by classes. The Recruiting Board have decided that men in Category B will be called up in the following order as far as possible—First, single men without dependents; second, single men with dependents and married men without children; third, married men with, two or less children; fourth, widowers with children; fifth, married men with, two or more children.
