RETURN TO THE FRONT. The announcement that General Gouraud, "the Lion of the Argoimc, has returned to the Western front as commander of the army is a gratifying piece of news. His recovery has been remarkable, for the injuries he received while succouring wounded men at the Dardanelles were of the gravest character. His right thigh and left leg were badly fractured, and his right arm had to he amputated. On his return to France the most eminent medicos of Paris were anxious to attend him. President Poincare pinned the Military Medal on his breast as he lay in bed, and King George telegraphed his condolences and subsequently invested him with the K.C.M.G.
