AV ELLINGTON OFFENDER FINED UG. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, January 17. William James Smith was convicted at the .Magistrate’s Court to-day on a charge of illicit liquor-selling, and was fined fttr>. Ti;e police described him as an old hand at the game known as "lighthonsing,” or carrying a bottle of whisky' and making surreptitious sales in the street. Smith said he was unable to pay, and the alternative was fixed as a month in gaol.
