INTERNMENT OF ALIENS
LENIENCY’ TOWARDS AUSTRIANS. (By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright) LONDON, July 28. In the House of Commons, Sir J.' A. Simon announced that ' tho Internment Committee had practically concluded its work. Tli ere were 14,000 applications for exemption; 6092 wore granted, 732 refused, and 7000 undetermined. The internments since May 13 totalled 9325, and repatriations 6302. The average was a thousand internments weekly. The committee is favouring Austrian applications in view of tho leniency shown to' British subjects in Austria in contrast to German treatment.
