MUNITIONS SUPPLY

ATTSTEALIAN METALS (ByTelegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright) MELBOURNE, July 26. Mr Casey, chairman of the Electrolytic Smelling Company, replying to the statements made by the Hon. W. M . Hughes (Federal Attorney-General) regarding the German domination of the metal trade, says that those are wholly inaccurate. As a matter of fact the price of electrolytic and copper in England is £9O, while in Germany it is £IBO a ton. Mertons, one of the firms mentioned by Mr Hughes, are the accredited agents of the British Government. A cable just received from London by the chairman of the Mount Morgan Company says that Mertons are the contractors for war supplies to the Admiralty, the India Office, and also to the English, French and Russian Governments, and constantly supply them with large quantities of copper. Mr Casey pointed out to Mr Hughes that the November sale of 1000 tons of Mt, Morgan copper was to Mertons.
