RECRUITS BEFORE WIFE

SOLDIER BRIDEGROOM’S RUN FROM REGISTRAR. LONDON, April 29. A good story is told by tlie Llanelly registrar of marriages of a wedding which took place a few days ago. A private in a regiment now training in a Welsh town returned home for his wedding. When the bride and bride-groom-to-be entered the registrar’s office, the soldier asked that tho ceremony might be postponed for ten minutes. The registrar thought it a very unusual request. "Well,” said the bridegroom, ”1 have just met a few old pals outside, and I want to tell them that their King and country need them.” The registrar readily consented with tlie assurance, “I'll wait half an hour if you like, and hope you will induce them fo enlist.” The soldier rushed out of the office and, overtaking his friends, persuaded them to accompany him to the recruiting offices at the local drill hall. When he returned to his intended bride his face was beaming with smiles. “Now I’m ready to bej. married,” he told the registrar, and the ceremony was duly performed.
