RAILWAY MISHAP

WAGGONS DERAILED AT MILL ROAD. Shortly after leaving- Mill Road skiing yesterday the mixed train which is scheduled to arrive in Invercargill at p.m. came to grief, seven waggons being derailed. The cause of the accident is as yet unknown, though it is surmised that an axle on one of the waggons broke. The train was a. x'airly heavy one, being composed of 16 waggons and three carriages. One of the trucks contained a horse which, however. was not injured. A portion of the i rain came on to Invercargill, and a break-down gang under Mr Rcnzoni. railway engineer, was despatched to the scene of the accident and temporary repairs effected. The damage to the permanent way was slight. and it will speedily be repaired. The T.ilO train was held up -as was the second express, which arrived at Invercargill one hour •.lid -0 minutes late.
