VAGRANCY CHARGES. (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND. Marcli 25. Two vagrancy charges with somewhat unusual features were before the Magistrate's Court to-day. "William P. Storey, a young man who was for a time a Parliamentary candidate for Parnell, and who in other ways was well-known, was charged with vagrancy. When Hie ease came on the police applied for a remand for a week so Hint licensed might be kept, under medical observal ion. Accused's counsel strongly objected, and asked for an immediate medical examination. Tbis was agreed to but as Hie result of it the doctors themselves asked for a week’s remand and the Court allowed this. In the second case the police charged a man named Mitchell with being without lawful means of support, and said dial lie was an cx-walerside worker and sinker, who bad not been admitted to the new Union, and who had been idling about the wharf for many months past using objectionable language to new Unionists. In Court, however, accused produced a bank book showing £l.>o standing to ids credit, and Hie Magistrate said dial in these very unusual circumstances lie could no nothing except dismiss Hie case, THE APPEAL COURT. WELLINGTON, Marcli 25. The Appeal Court to-day beard till* pelition of Frederick Whitcomb, accountant, of Christchurch, for readmission as a barrister and solicitor of Hie .Supremo Court. Petitioner was struck off the roll in AVestern Australia in P.IOO. The Court made an order for his, readmission cm condition that petitioner acknowledges by declaration that some of the money which was misappropriated is still due and that the costs of the New Zealand Law Society in prior proceedings lie paid and also seven guineas in Hie present petition, within three months:
