At the commencement of the sale prices were inclined to be easier, but a contingent of farmers from the Walma-haka-I’ine Bush area entered (ho arena, and at once there was a distinct improvement. which was maintained throughout. Then- was a large yarding, and only a few pens of fairly good wethers wore noticeable, and these were by no means special. A largo proportion of the yarding was composed of lambs; and while there were a few good pens tho majority contained unfinished stuff. As was the case with the cattle, butchers did not seem to be over eager, but freezing operators saved the situation. Tho sale opened well, but before half the yarding had boon disposed of the butchers seemed to bo satisfied, and from that time there was a noticeable slackening, and prices fell fully a shilling a head below what they were at the commence-

There was a considerably better tone observable, and the whole of tho yarding was cleared. Good young ewes made up to 225.
