THROWN OFF A HORSE. (Per United Press Association.) DUNEDIN. March 22. .Mr George Edward Charlton, of Seacliff. fell or was thrown off a horse at Waikouaiti on Saturday evening, and received injuries which terminated fatally yesterday. He was well-known in the district, and was a member of various local bodies. He was (2 years of age, FOUND DKDWNED. WELLINGTON, March 22. The body of a woman, Margaret Clifford was found in the harbour. Site was till* wife of an engineer, and was recently employed as cook at. a private hotel. A FARMER'S MISHAP. DANNEVTRKE. Starch 22. William Ernest Prince, a young farmer. residing at Mukatuku, who was a passenger on the train going to Dannevirke on Saturday evening, got out on tlie railway crossing while the train was waiting for signals and was struck by an engine travelling in the opposite direction. His injuries appeared to lie slight, lint yesterday lie showed signs of collapse, and is now in a critical condition, BOY CYCLIST'S DEATH. AUCKLAND, Marcli 22. A fatal accident occurred in Symonds street this morning, by which a hoy named George Hades, aged 15 years, met bis death. He was riding on a bicycle down Synionds street on ids way to work, wiien lie approached too near the I side of tlie road and struck tlie kerbstone. He was thrown from his machine. iiis head striking the pavement. Tlie injured youth was taken to tlie hospital, where lie died shortly after admission. DEATH AT A RAILWAY CROSSING. GORE, Marcli 22. Thomas Hicks, married, 58 years of ago. wlio leaves a grown-up family, al.'tl was engaged as a small farmer and orchardist, residing near Gore, while driving over the Hyde street railway crossing this afternoon, met with a fatal accident, Hicks was going over the crossing 100 yards south of the station as a railway engine appeared. The] crossing-keeper called out and Hicks hesitated and then drove over tlie crossing. the engine striking tlie end of the spring-carl, capsizing it and throwing Hicks out on his head on to the crossing. The injured man never regained ;onsciousne ;s and died about Iwo hours after being received into the hospital.
