The Press Bureau states that in response to hundreds of applications made by Belgians residing abroad the Belgian Government has issued to all neutral Stales a strongly worded protest regarding the German proclamation imposing a lax on absentees. This states that this tax is imposed contrary to all the rules of international law and assumes the character of mere spoliation. Wo can neither admit the principle nor recognise its application, and sums so paid must he reimbursed after the liberation of Belgian territory. TEE CASUALTY LISTS WELLINGTON, March 22.
