News Inis just been received at Iho Auckland office of tho Fnion Steam Ship Company (says the New Zealand .Herald I of the wreck of the British four-masted barque Dalgonar, on Maupihoa Island. In the Society Croup, some months ago. The island referred to is uninhabited, hut schooners call there twice a year to obtain copra. In a letter from Papeete, received by the Colon Company, It is stated that one of Messrs S. It. Maxwell and Co.’s schooners, which visited the Island, recently took to Papeete theshlps hell from the wrecked haniue. No sign ef the crew of the latter was seen. tt was supposed that the Dalgonar went ashore about live months ago, and that she had been abandoned before stranding.
