RAID NEAR RICCARTON RACECOURSE. (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH. March 22, Yesterday Sergeant Stewart and Constables Dunlop and Hannatin "from information received” made a successful approach to the Rieearton racecourse where it wa-s reported that a two-up-school had established its headquarters. The police, making a wary advance through tlio pine trees, got within fifty yards of the crowd and watched them at their operations for a considerable time. Then, apparently, someone gave the alarm for the “players" suddenly tied the field. The police gave chase and were successful in catching five men, ot whom It is understood three will be prosecuted.
