A meeting of the committee was held on Saturday, when the following resolutions were adopted;— That when £SOO is available the amount be cabled to the High Commissioner. London. with instructions that the money is for the benefit of European Allies' relief from the Farmers’ Union of Southland, further amounts to be remitted when* they reach £2OO. That ail fat stock and other donations in kind be converted into money to be remitted to the High Commissioner as early as possible, and that frozen meat companies be requested to market all fat stock sent to their works to the best advantage on behalf of the fund. The latter resolution was adopted because of the necessity for prompt action and the uncertainty of getting meat shipped under existing conditions. By sending cash at once relief to the sufferers can be given promptly, whereas if actual moat were to he sent the people for whom it was intended might he beyond help before it reached them if it ever did reach its intended destination.
