PRISONER ESCAPES

Du Saturday night a. prisoner named Alfred Robert Curtis escaped from the prison eamp at Kaingaroa, and has not vrt Ik’pm recaptured, f’urtls was «en- | teneed at Auckland in February, 1914. to J two years’ hard labour and five years' reformative treatment for forgery. A Wanganui correspondent recently telegraphed: —Some uneasiness is being felt along the Main Trunk line at tlie escape of prioners from the Walmarino Camp, the second since about Christmas time, having iust occurred. At Christmas a German pulled up a couple of Ilooring hoards of his hut and burrowed Ins way mil. He got to tho railway station. eseaped by the early morning train, and has not been seen since. The second escape has now taken place, and all efforts to recapture the prisoner have so far proved unsuccessful.
