POSTAL PILLAR BOXES.

To the Editor. Sir, —The receiving boxes for letters at street corners are very convenient, and the public use them constantly in the evenings. They would be more convenient if cleared more frequently. Generally they are cleared twice a day —noon and mid-night. In Wellington and Dunedin the boxes arc cleared every hour. If I wish to send a letter to Riverton or elsewhere by the afternoon mail. I have, to post it at the chief past office. The growth of Invercargill makes it necessary that the pillar boxes should he cleared, say, every two hours. The Municipal Council or Chamber of Commerce should ask the Postal Department to meet this necessity.—l am, eta. CITIZEN. Sept. 22.
