MOSSBURN

( Frm our own Correspondent.) On Thursday evening a large gathering of residents from all parts of the district assembled in the hall to bid goodbye to Miss K. Souihbtvg. who has held 'lie position of head teacher for the past eight years, and has been transferred to Riverton school. Dancing commenced at half past eight and during the evening Miss Southberg was presented with a handsome dressing bag, as a token of the esteem ;n whicli she,is held. Mr A. Hoy. in making the presentation, referred to the many good qualities of '.lie guest. -Miss Southberg during the eight years she has been in charge of the school had so conducted her duties as to win the approval of all parents, which is no small matter in country districts. She has also been a very willing'worker in church and social affairs of the district. Mr Dawson and Mr Marshall also spoke of the excellent work Miss Southherg had done, both a_s a teacher and social worker. Miss Southberg suitably responded, thanking everyone for the many kindnesses site had received, and also for the very valuable present, which she would always treasure. Miss Annie Southberg was also presented with a set of silver mounted brushes. During the evening opportunity was taken to make small presents to Mr A. Dawson and Miss McCauley upon the eve of their marriage. They will also be much missed in the district, both always being present at all social affairs. They intend to settle in the Auckland district. Mr Dawson was made the recipient of a suit case and Miss McCauley a travelling rug.

Danc'ng was kept up going until the small hours, when the singing of "Auld Bang Syne" brougnt the function to a close.
