Edith Melville (23) was barged at the Maryleboaa Police Court with perjury, counsel'stated that one Htigh McKean „ met Melville In Leicester Square, but subsequently ended the acquaintance. This annoyed the woman, who commenecd to pester him with letters and telegrams and visits to his. house and his friends’ houses. The culmination was the allegation that McKean was the father of the child she expected. She obtained a summons, brought a female child into court, and swore"Jt. was here, and that McKean was the father. Crossexamined, she refused to state precisely where the child "was born, and the , summons was disnusaed. It was afterwards discovered tbAjt the child was her sister’s, which" s*»e had borrowed for the purpose of exhibiting in court. ■Melville was'remanded.
