A heavy south-west gale prevailed yesterday with heavy rain and thunder. Telegraph wires in various parts of the province are reported to be down, and communication in many directions being delayed. The troops In camp at Hautapu (Waikato), are reported to be having an unenviable time.. The sun shone brightly to-day, hut the wind continued. STORM AT WANGANUI. May 3. Th© heaviest gale experienced for some time raged during the week-end, but it is now beautifully fine.
