DEPARTMENTAL METHODS.
To the Kditor. Sir. —I am a Territorial, and only too willing to attend parades and camps, but for wierd management, commend one to the military departmental authorities. 1 am resident about six miles from Winton. where, by the way, a special troop train leaves on Saturday morning at about 8.30. But I must not go by that train. I am peremptorily ordered to be at a wayside station 19 miles away by (yo gods!) 7.10 a.m. on Saturday morning! Why, in the name of Heaven, why? T have to carry blankets, gun, and other accountrement 11) miles when six would do. Oh, when will this departmental blundering end?—l am, etc., INDIGNANT TERRITORIAL,. April in. (This leiler was placed before the departmental authorities yesterday, and it was then stated that the trouble was probably due to "Indignant Territorial" failing to advise the department of some change of address. Even if this was not the case it was the complaintant’s duty to advise the department on receipt of his notice that it was inconvenient for him to go to the wayside station referred to, in which case arrangements for him to go 1o Winton could have been made. —Ed. S.T.]
