DISTURBED BY A POLICEMAN
FISH SHOP PREMISES ENTERED. The general condition of the back portion of Messrs Pasco Bros.’ premises at an early hour on Sunday morning showed that something was amiss. The back door of the premises was open and a large number of mutton-birds were scattered about in a manner which showed that those in possession had made a hasty retreat. As Constable Hood approached this locality in the early morning hours the sudden “bolting” of a man along Spey street showed the officer that something was amiss. The constable moved rapidly towards the right-of-way which leads from the back of the shop to Spey street. It was barred by a locked iron gate. He flashed Ills light into the passage and there espied a man hiding among some boxes. The constable blew his whistle for assistance. but the man inside immediately decamped by another exit leading past the back of adjacent premises. So far the police have not traced the man concerned.
