YORK, April 6

Nine persons were killed at Memphis, Tennessee, when gas exploded in a caisson used for the construction of a new bridge across the Mississippi. A tube was driven into a gas pocket after a gang of whites had replaced ten negroes. Tire dead and injured were removed in boats tc the hospital.
