The usual monthly meeting of the board of directors of the Toung Women's Christitin Association was held in the rooms on Friday evening, where there was a good attendance of members, Mrs A iM. Macdonald occupying the chair. Two new members were welcomed to the board. The secretary presented her monthly report, after which the treasurer’s report was read, and both adopted. ’ Miss X. .lobson, M.A.. was elected president of the Association for the ensuing year, and Mesdames A. M. Macdonald and C S. Longuet vice-presidents. The General Secretary (Miss F. E. Ferguson), having intimated that she would not be able to continue in the position longer than one year, it was arranged that the National Board in Sydney should be written to asking them to find a secretary to the Association. It is proposed to start a physical culture class among members, provided a sufficient number are willing to join, and it was stated that members generally were interesting themselves in the matmatter of starting a sewing club was also brought up, and it was decided to try to get the use of two sewing machines to aid in the work. The need of a piano for use in the rooms was also emphasised. . . , Mention was made of the fact that Miss Brentnall. 8.A., who occupied the position of student secretary to the Association in Calcutta, would be visiting Invercargill the following week, and that she had consented to address a meeting of members in the rooms on Wednesday (this evening), on the subject of her work in India. The recording secretary (Miss Jamieson). tendered her resignation, and Miss Hunter was appointed to the position.
