DROWNED IN A CREEK. ’(Per United Press Association.) HOKITIKA. Marc 1 1 ILL James Thomson, aged 10, second son of Mr .1. W. Thomson, harbourmaster at OUarito, lost his life on Friday at Five Mile Crock. He was taking stores up the creek in a boat and. not returning, search was made. • and his body was found in the creek. A BODY IDENTIFIEDAUCKLAND. March 2;’,. The man whose dead body was found at the foot of a cliff, has been identified as .Stuart Lycil. LEVEL CROSSINGS AGAIN. NAPIER. March 2.1. A narrow escape from a very serious accident occurred at the gasworks railway crosiug as the first train was arriving this morning from Hastings. A taxi-driver. John Black, got his car right on the metals before lie observed that the train was upon him. lie made a desperate effort to swerve off, but the engine caught the rear wheel and carried the car into tho cattle stop, completely wrecking it. Black was thrown with considerable force some distance out. but escaped with a severe cut on the head. The. crossing is a very dangerous one. several fatalities having occurred there, and the Government lias been repeatedly urged to install an alarm. FOUND DEAD. WAXGAXIT. March 2;!. A man named E. Hodren, a secondhand dealer, was found .lead on his premises tit is morning. Deceased was an old identity and well known on the coast.
