The European purse strings have been pulled tighter and money is being hoarded to an astonishing extent. The banks hold only twenty per centum of the currency in circulation and it is calculated that twenty-six million ppunds is literally locked up in boxes. The firms importing safes and strong boxes are unable to meet the demand.
