MR MASSEY ON TOUR. SPEECH AT HOKITIKA. (Per United Press Associate on.) HOKITIKA. March 22. The Hon. W. F. Massey delivered a political speech here on Saturday night. He spoke for two hours and dealt at length with tbe various measures placed on the statutes during the . past two years and the adminst.ration of his Government generally. A motion of thanks and confidence in the present Government was carried unanmously. Mr Massey was cheered at the conclusion of his speech, which was punctuated with applause. Subsequently he was entertained by the members of tbe Westland branch of the Reform League. On Saturday the Prime Minister visited the Kokatahi and Koiterangi districts, and during the day met a number of deputations. with re.gard to local requirements. He was entertained by the settlers, who gave him a most enthusiastic reception. To-day the. Hon. Mr Massey attended the ceremony of laying the foundation stone of St_ Mary's Church. Bishop Grimes officiated at an impressive ceremony. Later on Mr Massey visited the Westland Hospital. To-morrow he proceeds to Ross, and returns to Hokitika in the evening, when he will be entertained by local bodies at a social gathering. He leaves Hokitika on Thursday morning for Christchurch.
