A FURTHER CONTINGENT. (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, March 10. ' Five more Indian coolies from PJt arrived by the Island steamer Navu» this morning to swell the ranks of thole fellow countrymen who have already settled in the Dominion and particularly this part of it. The new-comers wera able to satisfy the very meagre test it English required by the ImmigrationAct and they are now entitled to all th-s privileges of colonists who have not: been naturalised. Already there i* more than a sprinklig of their compatriots in the Auckland district. Hawking fruit and similar commodities seems to he a favourite calling for the Indians to adopt. They originally came out to Fiji as workers in the sugarcane plantations. and some of them, who apparently prefer work in the fields, take up positions as farm labourers when they < onto to New Zealand. There are two or thr.-'» lots of them working on farms down tho Main Trunk line. At the present timo 24 Indians appear on the hooks of the Auckland City Council as holding hawkers' licenses.
