Dr Mcl-ean (bacteriologist) and Mr Hurley (photographer) in, the Mawson expedition, have returned to Sydney. Dr McLean added a few details to what is already known. He said the story is long one and not for him lo tell. M’hon Dr Mawsons hook came out they would read the whole tiling. Amongst other important discoveries were nests of Antarctic petrels, which have never before been found and six Ross seals, a very rare species. While they were dredging many rare new specimens were obtained. • ■ MAWSON'S ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED. ADELAIDE, March 5. The Aurora returns to Hobart to await orders. Dr Mawson shortly visits England in connection with the expedition. His forthcoming marriage to Miss Dclparit, daughter of the general manager of the Broken Hill Proprietary mine, is announced. MASSON'S EXPEDITION. MONEY QUESTION CHEERFUL. MELBOURNE, March 5. Received March a, 9.30 p.m. Professor Masson said that ten thousand pounds would solve all the financial problems of the Masson expedition, but despite this the Commonwealth's grant of five thousand pounds had helped to smooth over all financial difficulties. He expects to realise large sums for the sale of moving pictures. The expedition will use Dr Mawspn’s boat. So far there was no occasion to be otherwise than cheerful on the question of money.
