CORRESPONDENCE

THE DUSTY NORTH ROAD.

To the Editor. . Sir. —Can the City Fathers devise n» means of coping to a reasonable extent with the dftst nuisance on the North Road? In dry weather the nuisance is simply intolerable, and as one who has frequently to pass along that road I wish to protest strongly. With the tram car, motor car and other vehicular traffic, which is now constantly on the North Hoad it is impossible after a few dry days to use the road, especially between the Hospital and Avenal, without being literally smothered with dust. On the grounds both of public health and of economy in road maintenance this is a matter which should be dealt with at once. I venture to assert that in no street in Invercargill is this nuisance so abominably bad as on the part of the North Hoad referred to. —I am, etc.. PROGRESS.
