CHRISTCHURCH, October 1

To-night’s Star says that the Union Company's record breaker Maitai (which is relieving the Mararoa in the ferry service) dashed into Lyttelton at 10.15 this morning, missing the mail train, and generally discommoding the business people. If the Christchurch Chamber of Commerce were as alert as, say the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, it would want to know if fines were imposed on the mail contractors, and a lot of other things besides: but perhaps the watchdogs of the citizens are asleep, and would resent, awakening.
