THE WAIHINE ARRIVES
UNION CO.'S NEW TURBINE STEAMER. (Per United Press Association.) DUNEDIN. Juno 29. The Union Co.’s new turbine steamer Waltino arrived at Port' Chalmers at noon yesterday from Glasgow, via Algiers, Port Said, Aden. Colombo, and Bunhury. Fine weather prevailed until after leaving the latter port, when she met with some heavy south-west gales aiu\ Yug\\ seas. lasting nnUl nearing the .Yen' Zealand coast. On the voyage out the Wahine averaged fourteen and ahalf knots throughout, hut can increase tViat speed to twenty-two knots when required. She is claimed to be the fastest passenger steamer owned in Australasian waters, and her officers describe her as toeing a ’wonderfully steady veHse l in rough weather. She can accommodate SAO passengers, and carries boats for all.
