The Kamona sailed from Newcastle on Saturday with a cargo of coal for Auckland. The Waitomo will leave Newcastle on Tuesday with a cargo of coal for Bluff, Dunedin, and Oamaru, The Niagara arrived at Fiji on Friday morning from Vancouver, and sailed in the evening for Auckland, where she is due to-morrow morning. She Is now burning ell fuel instead of coal. The Monaaa left Sam Francisco last W*dne»day for Wellington and Lyttelton,’ via Tahiti and Raratonga._ She is dub at Wellington about July 17th. The Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Pakeha. which left Auckland on May 14th for London, arrived at her destination last Wednesday evening. The Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Kia Ora left Rio de Janeiro fast Tuesday evening in continuation of her voyage from Auckland to London. The Press announces that Captain B. 14. Aldwell, at present In charge of the Maori, will take charge of the new turbine steamer Wahine when she enters the Lvttelton-WelUngton service, and that Captain W. Sailed—Saturday: Corinna, for northern ports; Breeze, for Timaru. Sunday; WUlochra, at 4 p.m.. for Melbourne, via BlfafL THE FERRY SERVICE. ADVENT OF THE WAHINE. STEAMER CHANGES. Within a few weeks the night ferry service between Lyttelton and Wellington will be maintained by the turbine steamers Wahine and Maori, and will then be unequalled south of the line or, Indeed, from the point of view of the size, comfort, and luxury of the steamers, in few parts of the world. The .new turbine steamer Wahine, a considerably larger and faster steamer than the Maori, arrived at Port Chalmers yesterday from the Clyde, via the Suez Canal, Colombo, and Bunbury. She will at once be docked for cleaning, repainting, and overhaul after her long journey, and will then be commissioned to take up her running. In the ferry service. She will probably start running In about ten or twelve days’ time, when she will replace the Maori, which will go to Port Chglmers to undergo a thorough overhaul. In the meantime the Mararoa will continue to run' as at present. When the Maori resumes running she will replace the Mararoa. leaving Lyttelton on Mondays. Wednesdays, and Fridays. The Wahine will leave Lyttelton on Tuesdays. Thursdays, and Saturdays. It is not yet known what the Union Company intend to do with the Mararoa when she is Withdrawn from the ferry service.
