Most men are satisfied that the strikers Will not be short of funds. Others, however, have secured work en the railway deviation works. Tbs Miners' Federation has .urged the transport workers to prevent coal from going to Belgium during the strike. . t SHEARERS’ CONFERENCE. WELLINGTON, March 30. fh Shearers’ Conference received a telegram from the Slheep-ownera’ Federation expressing readiness to meet the Shearers’ executive In conference, but pointing out that the Federation Executive has been recommended by the Canterbury Shearers' Union to renew the present award fer « further three years, and If the'Shearers’ Executive agrees te this the conference will be unnecessary. Various details regarding pens and the eondnet of work in tho sheds were discussed ab length. It was resolved te make every effort to bring all the rural workers within thi bounds of one dominion organisation. On the subject of lost time It was resolved that in the eaae of a steppage of machinery at any shed through breakage, or where a ■hearer is rendered idle through an employer- er his agent falling ts start ■hearing on the date of advice, er failing to maintain the supply of sheep, the shearers shall be. paid per hour for all such-time lest. It was resolved that ns shearer be allowed te leave a shed at bis own wish, without the consent of the majority of the shearers, except tn >«ase of accident. Illness, or urgent necessity.
