FUNDS FOR REFURNISHING HOSPITAL. ARRANGEMENTS WELL IN HAND. A large and enthusiastic meeting of the executive of the Hospital Saturday Assn, was hold in the Town Hall last evening, when the allocation of this year's collection was decided upon, and general details arranged. The following were present: —Mr Jas. Ward (President) in the chair, Mesdnrnes Ott, Hawke, Ward, Stewart. Lilhurne and Martin: Misses May Boyce. '.McLeod and Chilman; and Messrs Ott, Stewart, Bickneil, McLean. 1. L. Petrie, Simon, Roberts and W. Ashley. The secretary reported that supervisors for a large number of the country stations had been appointed and that very keen enthusiasm was being shown. It was expected to have all the stations completed by the end of the week. Several new stations; had been arranged, and it was hoped that by'this means the collections would be largely increased. A letter was received from Stewart Island asking that an amount be donated towards their District Nurse Fund. The object was a most deserving one, and it was decided to allot £lO from this year’s collection fer that purpose. The collection was allocated as follows; Southland Hospital, 45 per cent.: District Nurse, 10 per cent.; Patients and Prisoners' Aid Society, 10 per cent.: Plunket Nurse, 7v. per cent.; Sailors’ Rost (Bluff), 5 per cent.; Victoria Home, 10 per cent.: St. John Ambulance, 7Vi per cent.; Sixpenny Clothing Club, 5 per cent. The Fire' Brigade wrote forwarding a donation of £2 2s towards the collection, which was received with thanks. It was decided on the advice of the lady principals not to issue the guinea exemption badges this year. A meeting of ladies and all those interested will be held on Tuesday evening, 25th February, when arrangements for the town collection will be made. As there are a number of collectors required, it is hoped that a number of ladies will identify themselves with this worthy and charitable, movement, who have hitherto not taken an active part. The President reported that lie had conferred with the chairman of the Hospitals and Charitable Aid Board in the matter of devoting the proceeds of tills year’s collection towards refurnishing the men's and women’s wards in the Southland Hospital. The meeting resolved that the money be devoted in this direction this year.
