FORTROSE REGATTA.

(From Our Own Correspondent). The day came up gloomy and about 11 o’clock a warm drizzle came on. This no doubt affected the attendance, but as the afternoon was fine the people turned out in fair numbers. Picnic parties with fires going were to be seen along both aides of the river, and every one seemed Intent on enjoying the day at the seaside. The events were all rowed in flatties, and some welrd-look-Ing craft were to be seen. The following officials worked hard to get the events off up to time : —Messrs D. Campbell, president, J. P. Maloney, secretary, A. J. Millard, vice-president and Judge, Gordon Millard, starter, and W. Blair, Carl Hedquist, C. Davis and A. MoEwan handicappers. Following were the results : Malden singles, half-mile; three entries—C. Davis 1. A. E. Millard 2, Won by half a length; a ding-dong finish. Boys’ maiden singles, quarter mile; 4 entries —Douglas Anderson 1, F. Humphries 2. Won by quarter of a length. Men’s singles handicap, three-quarter mile; 3 entries—W. Chisholm, 10 secs 1. C. Harvey, 10 secs. 2. A. E. Millard. 7 secs. 3. Won easily; a good finish be.tween the second and third boats. Boys’ double sculls, quarter mile; 2 entries—C. Campbell and J. Chisholm 1, W. Davis and D. Anderson 2. Swimming race 100 yards Gordon Millard 1. Jamas Brown 2. Men’s maiden double sculls; 4 entries —W. Chisholm a.nd E. Campbell 1. A. BMillard, and J. Graham 2. Ladies’ singles; 4 entries —'Miss H. Chisholm 1. Miss A. Chisholm 2. Men's double handicap, one mile. 6 entries —Millard and Graham. S secs, 1, W. Chisholm and E. Campbell scr. - A squall then came up and everyone made haste for home. A regatta ball v«aa held In the evening.
