AQEICUIITUEAII EVENTS POE WEEK ENDING- JUNE Bth. —Thursday, June 6. — Stock Sale at Winton. Air G. L. Pritchard's sale at Morton Alains, by tho National Mortgage and Agency Co. —Friday, June 7. Stock Sale at Thornbury. Air J. A. Hall's clearing sale at Nightcaps, by tho National Mortgage and Agency Co. WAX.EACETOWN STOCK SAXiE. SAIALL YARDING ; POOR DEMAND. The fortnightly stock sale of the Invercargill Stock Agents, was held at the Wallacetown yards yesterday. The weather conditions wore wretched, cold showers of rain and hail falling throughout the proceedings. Tho bad weather consequently had a depreciating effect in respect to both tho yarding of sheep and cattle, and the attendance of the public. In fact it was the smallest attendance of buyers that have been present at Wallacetown for some considerable time. Tho yardings for yesterday and the two previous sales were as follow: June 4. May 21. Alay 7. Store cattle .. S2 320 250 Fat cattle . . 57 IS4 96 Store sheep .. 459 1200 2.300 Eat sheep . . 752 1430 960 CATTLE.

With such a small yarding there was not much variety for prospective buyers to Hiooso from. The sale started late, and throughout it dragged to a considable extent. There was little prime beef in the whole yarding. Tho absence of many of the usual buyers at the Dunedin show, left little for sellers to pick and choose from in regard to tho direction in which they might place entries they had forward. There was mostly cow and heifer beef in the yanking forward, but the quality, taken ail round, was not of a high class. In the vicinity of £8 10s was the best price obtained for fat stock. Some of the principal sales were:— By Wright. Stephenson and Co.: —Account F. A. Price, 5 fat cows £6 10s. 6 do £6 ss. 4 do at £6 12s 6d, 5 do at £5 ss; 3 fat bullocks, £3 15s; account N. G. In the sheep section there were under 500 store sheep, and just SOO of the fat variety In the yarding, The demand, taken all round, was above that experienced when the cattle were previously submitted to auction. Taken all through prices were slightly easier than those prevailing at the sale of a fortnight ago. What demand there was for business was from export buyers and graziers, butchers bidding at irregular intervals. Then the latter were only operating when anything of extra prime quality was submitted. The top price of the day was secured for a line of 52 fat wethers, vended by Mr F. A. Price, which realised 21s per head; Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co. being the auctioneers. Some of the principal sales were;— By Southland Farmers’ Co-operative Association: —15 fat owes at 13s CO.
