(Per United Press Association.) WAIIH, June 3. A man named Da\id Mac Pike. employed by Raeksha up a contractnr for the Kauri Timber Company at Waitewela, whilst loading railway trucks with timber. Jumped for the brake of the first truck and fell underneath the wheels. Ills right leg was terribly mangled. Thy man was removed io W'aihi llospital, and it is expected Hint amputation will An elderly man nam> d John Jiao, a drover in the employ of .Mr John Turnhull at Waikaka. was found dead on Commonage Reserve about 1 o'clock yesterday afternoon, it is not known how he met his death, but it is sup,posed that lie was thrown from his horse. He wtts well-known in the district, having worked there for many years. He leaves a widow and several children. An inquest will lie hold.
